Those of you who get it, can you let me know what you think of it? I had it on pre-order but actually canceled it because I'm truly miffed that you can't use DLC with it. I also admit to being in a huff about the romance thing (my canon PC is married to Alistair and I didn't want to send her off after Darkspawn without him), and I was turned off by the price. We had to buy two copies of the original game so that my husband and I could both play, and I just didn't want to invest that much money in two copies of the XP, so I've decided to wait until the price comes down.

Overall, I admit to being a bit disappointed with DA. It was a good game with some great writing, don't get me wrong, but maybe I was burned out by all the years and years of hype, I don't know.

They've been working on making DLC compatible. RtO equipment is already compatible with Awakening now.

It'd make less sense if Alistair went with you to kill off the darkspawn while he's the King. He has a whole bunch of other stuff that he has to handle. Since you are the only other Grey Warden in Fereldan, it falls onto your shoulders to deal with. (Since if you're a HNF and married to him, you are technically "Queen". But in title only, you have very little political power unless Alistair gives it to you. Meaning you have less responsibilities than he does.) The only ones that would make sense romance continuation wise would be to have Alistair/Leliana/Zevran if they decided to stay with you and help you rebuild the Wardens. Only if Alistair isn't King in that case though.

They most likely have a way to explain why whoever isn't by your side during Awakening. Things come up, people change, etc. You'll have to wait and see.


I have it on pre-order. So once it comes in the mail, and I manage to pry myself away from it. I'll let you know how it is.

I pre-ordered it too. Of course, I haven't finished the original yet, mostly because my computer died almost 2 months ago and I just got the replacement last week....and I lost all my saved games.

It is a valid question. However, it's a complicated situation. Technically as a Warden, he should have no claim to the throne at all. But because of Cailen's death, they kind of did some hand waiving, I guess. When there's only one person with a legitimate claim, it's a tough decision about who actually takes the throne.

Anders looks like he has a lot of potential. I'm hoping for him to return in another expansion or something with a romance. For my poor mage PC that gets dumped.

The character I'm most interested in at the moment is Nathaniel. It'll be interesting how they deal with him for a HN Warden. That and I'm being poked in the eye with story ideas about a lot of.. "tension" between him and my HNF.

Very curious if one has romanced Zevran/Leliana then asked them to stay and help rebuild the wardens... Yet they are not possible companions. (epilogue said they stayed to help, right???)

For those who don't know, Alistair/Wynne/Loghain are possible companions based on past choices. Anora is possible NPC. Oghren is definitely back.

Zevran could dump Warden PC if you go 'travelling' together but I thought he's supposed to stay and train wardens if you asked him to help.

Not sure about Leliana though (haven't got the time to complete that romance).

So anyone have any theories of where they have gone?? Did they choose to 'chicken out' on the Wardens? Very OCC if you ask me, they did swear to help and stand by your side...

PS: Dog has joined the SPCA?

Oghren is the only one who is a possible companion. The other characters have cameo appearances, depending on your choices in Origins.

Oghren was the most logical choice for a returning character. If they had picked either Zevran or Leliana, you would be seeing the same complaints.("Why isn't the character I romanced coming back?") They chose to go a neutral path by putting in the least explored character personality wise into Awakening. Since most people get Oghren very late in the game. Not to mention, you don't get as many opportunities to get rid of or kill Oghren as you do for either of them.

Morrigan obviously wouldn't come back, since she ran off to Orlais to have her baby. Alistair is busy either being kingly or drinking away his sorrows about deciding he didn't want to be king.

I'm assuming the reason they left Dog out was to focus on the new companions. Because really.. How many actions and responses can you expect for/from a dog?

I really like Oghren as a character, and I'm not sorry to see more of him. It does make the most sense to have him because he is probably the most neutral. Sending him and Zevran to rescue my PC and Alistair after the encounter with Cauthrien was pure, comedic gold.

Not having dog would make sense if you chose to play as a Warden from Orlais, but not having him if you use one of your DA:O characters does seem a bit odd--especially if your character is a human noble. Ah well. I didn't take dog with me, for the most part, but I did enjoy the cutscenes with him and the other NPCs.

I haven't seen Nathaniel yet. I'll need to go check him out. I'm a bit behind on the companion vids. I think the last one I saw was with the female mage who reminded me of a blonde Morrigan.

I like Oghren too. I can't wait to see how they handled the "father" thing.

I'm guessing they cut Dog simply just because of lack of content to put in. Though one of my favorite Dog scenes is when he drags a little kid back with him in Denerim.("You know he's going to have to fight darkspawn, right?" ~argumentive bark~ "I know he's too young. That's why you should take him back to his parents, yes?" ~whine~) I imagine if it bothers people enough, they'd just write him into their fanfics somehow. It always bothered me though that Dog was treated like a full on companion rather than like say.. A familiar/ ranger's companion. I like the conversation stuff with Dog, but I don't think he should take up a party spot for what little he has.

Nathaniel doesn't have his own character video yet. He hasn't "officially" been released yet. But they have the Penny Arcade comics, which are about him.

I can't get it to load, but if you can, enjoy. Some people on BSN stated it was quite nice.

Also, I'm wondering why there is no official announcement on it yet, so I'm taking it with a grain of salt.

Wow, I would say this is a spoiler but anyone that can watch the trailer will know apparently justice is a spirit of justice from the fade cast from there by some witch gal, it would be great if it were the same one from the harrowing.

I think if he didn't look quite so dead, he'd have the beginnings of a fangirl club.
